Higi Jung
Higi Jung is a South Korean artist whose interdisciplinary practice centers on the interplay between human connection and the formation of new trajectories. Rooted in the tactile and poetic qualities of sewing, Jung approaches textiles, threads, and needles as tools for storytelling—where each stitch becomes a word, and each fabric a vessel of memory. Her works often take the form of layered assemblages, integrating found objects and reclaimed textiles to evoke themes of memory, disappearance, and coexistence.
Navigating the boundaries between material and metaphor, Jung treats the act of sewing not merely as a craft, but as a reflective and literary gesture—one that weaves the ephemeral into form. Her practice draws attention to the overlooked and discarded, reanimating them with new meaning through delicate yet assertive gestures of repair and connection.
In addition to her studio-based work, Jung is known for her dynamic collaborations across disciplines, engaging with fashion, spatial design, and the performing arts. These intersections allow her to expand the narrative and spatial potential of her textile-based language, creating immersive environments that invite viewers into a space of shared presence and layered histories.
