Clara Schweers

Clara Schweers is a German artist based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. She works with glass as a storytelling medium, exploring how virtual images, gestures and ideas can take physical form.

Using glass, Schweers translates digitally imagined aesthetics into sculpture. Through glass fusing and flameworking, she creates neon works and installations that are precise, fragile and carefully balanced. Her work moves between figuration and abstraction. Symmetry plays a central role in her practice, shaping both the appearance of the work and the demanding process behind it, as hand-made sculpture is pushed to reflect the precision of digital processes. Her work pushes the possibilities of glass and sculpture through a precise and experimental approach, including the use of different neon gases and the careful resolution of technical challenges.
