Enseoul is pleased to present Fly, from the days I considered leaving, a solo exhibition of recent paintings by Hyeonkyeong You. This marks the artist’s third solo exhibition with the gallery.
The exhibition brings together a new body of work produced in 2025, reflecting You’s ongoing interest in the subtleties of introspection and transitional moments. Through a restrained palette and a compositional balance between powerful brushstrokes and areas of blank, breathing space, her paintings evoke the moments that precede change, the moments defined by reflection, transition, and renewal.
In these works, the artist translates personal reflection into a distilled visual language. Expanses of blank space and gestural brushwork suggest both absence and presence, holding room for breath and decision. Fly, from the days I considered leaving continues You’s exploration of perception and self-awareness, capturing the tension between hesitation, struggle, and awakening, the constant cycle of realisation and enlightenment that lies at the core of her practice.
The motifs in the exhibition include meditating Buddhas, monks, pagodas, and self-portraits that reflections of an inner journey and shifting states of mind.
